Ram pressure — where it appears

The pressure a directed flow exerts on an obstacle, equal to the flow's mass density times the square of its speed. It is what a stellar wind pushes with, and balancing it against magnetic or thermal pressure fixes the size of a magnetosphere or strips a galaxy of gas.
