Hubble tension — where it appears

The disagreement between the expansion rate measured from the local distance ladder and the rate inferred from the microwave background. It is about eight per cent and several standard deviations, it has survived a decade of scrutiny, and it is stated most usefully as a disagreement about the sound horizon.
