Magnetorquer — where it appears

A coil or rod carrying current that makes a magnetic dipole, used to push a spacecraft against the Earth's magnetic field. It can exert torque only perpendicular to the local field, needs power but no propellant, and is useful only in low orbits where the field is strong enough.
